Mastic Asphalt Roofing

Mastic asphalt is suitable for many roof constructions as long as the deck does not flex too much. It is the ideal material for concrete, block and beam, bison beam, woodwool slab and suitably constructed timber roofs.

As it is in molten form when applied, it can be dressed around rooflights, pipes etc without any difficulty.

It is usually laid in 2 coats on an isolating membrane of black sheathing felt.

If there are any insufficient falls on the roof, the mastic asphalt can be laid to eliminate standing water.

On completion the mastic asphalt forms a seamless membrane.

It is often a good idea to protect the asphalt from U.V. degradation and heat build-up by applying a solar reflective paint finish.
