The roof on this church extension has just been replaced with mastic asphalt on 80mm insulation, upgrading it to a warm deck construction.

Due to the asphalt being laid on insulation, heat from the sun cannot dissipate through the roof structure and therefore is subjected to extreme temperatures if left black.

We therefore coated all new asphalt coverings with 2 coats of white solar refletive paint. This should keep the surface temperature of the coverings down thereby reducing stress due to expansion and contraction.
